Authorities in Austria are working tirelessly to uncover the motives behind a tragic shooting incident that left 10 people dead at a high school in Graz. The 21-year-old gunman, armed with a shotgun and a pistol, took his own life after the rampage, marking one of the worst outbreaks of violence in the country’s recent history.

Investigators are combing through the shooter’s home and online activity for any clues that may shed light on why he carried out the attack. While a pipe bomb was discovered at his residence, authorities confirmed it was not functional.

Reports suggest that the young man may have been a victim of bullying, but this has yet to be confirmed by the police. It was revealed that he never completed his studies at the school and left behind a farewell note that did not provide a clear motive for his actions.

Franz Ruf, director general of public security, emphasized that the investigation into the shooting is progressing rapidly, urging against speculation at this time.

The attack unfolded rapidly, with approximately 17 minutes passing between the first reports of gunfire and the area being secured by law enforcement. Victims were found both inside and outside the school, with several sustaining serious injuries.

In response to the tragedy, Austria declared three days of national mourning, prompting a rare display of unity among political parties. The community came together to honor the victims, with gatherings in Graz’s main square, floral tributes, and blood donations for the injured.

The incident has left parents, students, and neighbors grappling to comprehend the senseless violence that occurred in their midst.
