The iconic haunted house from the classic horror film “Poltergeist” is undergoing a revival after being recently sold, with plans to transform it into a short-term rental property.
According to real estate agents Christian Melgar and Zo Amilee from Coldwell Banker Realty Westlake Village, the house located in Simi Valley, CA was sold for $1.28 million, surpassing the asking price by $100,000.
The new owner, an investor from Los Gatos, CA, intends to convert the property into an Airbnb that replicates the eerie atmosphere of the original “Poltergeist” film set. Each room will be furnished and decorated to resemble scenes from the movie, offering guests a unique and immersive experience.
Although Halloween is approaching, the house will not be available for rental this year as the owner wants to ensure that every detail is perfect before opening it to the public. Horror movie enthusiasts may have to wait until next year to book a stay at this iconic location.
The property boasts 16,000 square feet of space, featuring 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a spacious swimming pool, and a jacuzzi. The house, which served as the primary setting for the Steven Spielberg-scripted supernatural thriller, was listed for sale for the first time in 45 years back in August.
With its rich history and eerie allure, the “Poltergeist” house is set to become a popular destination for fans of the film and those seeking a unique and memorable accommodation experience. Stay tuned for updates on when this iconic property will be available for bookings.
