Star of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams, recently disclosed her new relationship with a woman following the conclusion of her marriage to Simon Guobadia.
While speaking at New York City’s CultureCon, which took place from October 4 to October 5, the 44-year-old Williams shared insights about her dating life, mentioning two new romantic interests.
Footage from her session was shared on Instagram over the weekend, where she addressed the crowd. Williams, who filed for divorce from Guobadia in February after a brief marriage lasting 15 months, expressed, “I’m talking to two people right now, I kept it to two. One is nice, and the other is nice too.”
This revelation elicited gasps from the audience, a reaction Williams humorously dismissed as she elaborated, “I just wanted to ensure they are genuine individuals. I’ve been conversing with my therapist about my struggles with vulnerability, particularly due to my past experiences with narcissists. These new people aren’t mirroring my behavior; they challenge me and ask me questions.”
Reports indicated that Williams finalized her divorce from Guobadia, 61, on February 23, with confidants noting that their separation had no connection to issues stemming from Guobadia’s immigration status. (He was confirmed to have been detained by ICE, as Us Weekly revealed on February 21.)
In June, it was confirmed by Us that the Nigerian-born Guobadia had been deported back to Nigeria after several months of detention.
In a confessional episode of RHOA aired in March, Williams shared how rapidly her relationship dynamics with Guobadia altered during their marriage. “One of my greatest joys was waking up and thinking of ways to make [Simon] happy, and I truly believed he felt the same towards me,” she reflected. “I would have gone to the ends of the earth for this man, but the person I grieve now, he wasn’t real.”
Following their breakup, the situation between the two became increasingly complicated. In July, Us exclusively reported that Guobadia filed a federal lawsuit against Williams, seeking damages of $500,000 for alleged “reputation, emotional distress, and humiliation.” Williams has refuted these claims, and the legal matter remains unresolved.
Guobadia has since formally appealed the initial divorce ruling, which granted Williams spousal support and other assets.
<pRecently, Williams celebrated the news that Guobadia lost his appeal regarding their divorce judgment, a development Us confirmed on September 9. Subsequently, she shared a cryptic message on Instagram stating, “It’s over,” although later posted a video boarding a private jet captioned with, “Free.”
<pAt CultureCon, Williams contemplated her past relationship habits and expressed her willingness to make changes for future happiness. “What I need to understand is that if I want something different, I must also change myself,” she told the audience. “I have to learn to be a little softer.”
