Post-Production Houses Chemistry, Semillero Team in Guadalajara

Chemistry, a leading post-production house in Mexico City, has recently partnered with Semillero Estudios, based in Guadalajara, to take advantage of the 40% cash rebate incentive offered by the state of Jalisco and the diverse range of filming locations it provides. This strategic move was announced by Chemistry head, Andrés Martínez-Ríos, and Álvaro Arce of Semillero Estudios during the 40th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) on June 6.

Martínez-Ríos expressed his excitement about the growing opportunities in Jalisco for the film industry, stating that the recent state incentives for film production made opening a studio in the region a compelling prospect. The collaboration between Chemistry and Semillero Estudios aims to offer high-quality post-production services for image and sound to production companies and platforms interested in filming in Jalisco.

Jalisco stands out as the only state in Mexico that provides such a generous incentive to filmmakers. This incentive is available to producers who have been established in the state for a minimum of three years or those who collaborate with a Jalisco-based producer. As a result, other audiovisual companies are considering setting up offices in Jalisco. Notable projects currently filming in the state include Apple TV+’s “Acapulco” and Netflix’s “The Manny.”

Semillero Estudios, founded in 2013 by Arce, specializes in music composition, production, sound design, and immersive mixing for various audiovisual formats. Their impressive portfolio includes work on projects like the International Emmy-winning “Sr. Ávila” for HBO Latin America and acclaimed documentaries and horror films.

With 15 years of experience in the industry, Chemistry offers state-of-the-art tools and workflows for color grading, dailies, and final deliveries to bring stories to life on screen. Martínez-Ríos expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership with Semillero Estudios, highlighting the opportunity to enhance services for the local industry and attract national and international productions.

The collaboration between Chemistry and Semillero Estudios signifies a significant step forward for the film industry in Jalisco, as more production companies are drawn to the region’s incentives and resources. The FICG, running from June 6-14, serves as a platform to showcase the talent and creativity flourishing in the Mexican film industry.
