Arsenal recently had the opportunity to sign Antoine Semenyo, a player who has also caught the attention of Liverpool and Chelsea. Despite the young star’s desire to join the Gunners, Arsenal ultimately decided against making a move for him. The AFC Bournemouth player, who is in excellent form, is now on the brink of a move to Manchester City.

According to a report from The Athletic, Semenyo’s preference was to join Arsenal, the team he supported while growing up. However, Arsenal chose not to pursue the £65 million-rated player in the January transfer window as they were not looking to add to their squad at that time. Liverpool were also in the mix for Semenyo but have since faded away despite their need for a winger.

The report suggests that Arsenal would have been Semenyo’s first choice if they had been more proactive in pursuing him. Liverpool were also seen as potential contenders, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future. However, it was Tottenham who made a competitive offer to Semenyo, only to be turned down by the player. This paved the way for Manchester City and Manchester United to emerge as the frontrunners for his signature.

In an interview with The Athletic last year, Semenyo expressed his admiration for Arsenal, stating that he has always been a fan of the club. Despite receiving a late inquiry from Chelsea, the player seems set on joining Manchester City, with Manchester United also showing interest in him.

AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has acknowledged that the club may not be able to prevent Semenyo from leaving, given his £65 million release clause. While he hopes to retain the player’s services, he understands that external factors may influence Semenyo’s decision.

Liverpool and Chelsea are both in the market for a winger, with the former still searching for a replacement for Luis Diaz. Chelsea, on the other hand, have made signings in the form of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho to strengthen their left-wing options.

As Semenyo’s future hangs in the balance, it remains to be seen which of the Manchester clubs will secure his services. With Arsenal opting out of the race, the battle for the talented winger’s signature is heating up among the Premier League’s top clubs.

In conclusion, Semenyo’s potential move to Manchester City or Manchester United could mark a significant chapter in his career, as he looks to make a name for himself at the highest level of English football. Only time will tell where the promising young talent will end up, but one thing is for sure – the competition for his signature is fierce.
