Presidential Reflection on the Anniversary of the Butler Tragedy
Today marks a solemn anniversary: one year ago at precisely 6:11 PM, just minutes after I took the stage at Butler Farms to speak before a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, chaos erupted. An assassin’s bullet narrowly missed its target—my very life and the ideals we champion. Yet, through what can only be described as divine intervention, I stand here today. As we reflect on the events of July 13, 2024, we reaffirm our belief that the American spirit is resilient, always rising above the darkness of malevolence.
On that fateful evening, the bravery displayed by those who rushed to aid their fellow citizens in the face of terror is a testament to the strength of our Republic. Medical professionals, first responders, and ordinary rallygoers transformed into heroes, providing critical assistance amidst the turmoil. They arrived as everyday individuals but left immortalized in our collective memory for their selfless acts of courage and solidarity.
Yet, among them, one name stands out—a beacon of valor and sacrifice. Corey Comperatore, a dedicated firefighter, veteran, and loving family man, exemplified heroism when he shielded his wife and daughters from harm. His ultimate sacrifice will forever echo in our hearts, a poignant reminder of the price paid for love and bravery.
In my heart, I believe that my survival was not a mere chance but part of a greater purpose: to restore our Nation to its former glory and to shield it from those who would see it diminished. One year after that harrowing attempt on my life in Butler, I assert that we are entering a new era of prosperity and hope. While the would-be assassin is but a footnote in history—defined by cowardice—the legacy of the heroes from July 13, 2024, will endure, etched into the very fabric of our Nation. Today, we honor their spirit of unity and resilience, and we raise our voices in unison to declare: “Fight, fight, fight!”
