Today marks the anniversary of our seventh President, Andrew Jackson, fondly known as “the People’s President.”

Andrew Jackson was an unwavering patriot, molded by the fires of the Revolutionary War. At the tender age of 13, he left home alongside his two older brothers, eager to join the fight for Independence. By 14, he had tragically become the last surviving member of his immediate family. His military prowess came to the forefront during the War of 1812 when he led a motley crew to an unexpected triumph against the British in the legendary Battle of New Orleans. A staunch advocate for democracy, he shocked the political elite when he won the popular vote in the 1828 presidential election by a considerable margin.

In a bid to return authority to the populace, President Jackson reduced the Federal workforce by ten percent and took a bold stance against the pervasive corruption in Washington. He implemented tariffs on foreign imports to protect American jobs and tackle the national debt. Throughout his presidency, he faced relentless attacks, including the notorious “corrupt bargain” scandal from the 1824 election, yet he remained steadfast in his defense of the nation.

My administration is committed to upholding the principles of President Jackson’s transformative vision by curbing excessive government spending, bolstering our manufacturing sector, and reinstating a government that is accountable to the American People. Daily, we are working to dismantle bureaucratic red tape, eliminate wasteful expenditures, reduce overreaching regulations, revitalize fair trade practices, and ensure that every tax dollar is utilized effectively.

As an iconic figure in American history, a military leader, and a vigilant protector of democracy, President Jackson’s legacy resonates strongly with us today. On this 258th anniversary of his birth, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing his ideals, honoring his memory, and championing the full power of American democracy for the future. I am honored to once again display his portrait in the Oval Office of the People’s House.

As our nation gears up to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence next year, President Jackson’s birthday serves as a poignant reminder of the heroes who exemplify the best of the American spirit—heroes whose enduring legacies continue to inspire and guide us towards a future filled with promise.

Happy birthday, President Jackson!
