Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Security Concerns Continue
When Prince Harry was a working member of the royal family, he received publicly funded security protection. However, after stepping down from royal duties with Markle in 2020, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) made the decision that he would no longer receive the same level of security as he was no longer a working member of the family.
Following this decision, Prince Harry filed a lawsuit challenging the stripping of his security. He argued that his private protection team in the United States did not have access to crucial United Kingdom intelligence information, putting him and his family at risk.
Despite his efforts, Prince Harry lost the legal case in May 2025. In an emotional interview with the BBC, he expressed his devastation over the outcome, stating that he couldn’t imagine bringing his wife and children back to the UK without adequate protection.
Prince Harry’s legal representative emphasized the importance of UK police protection for the safety of the royal family, stating that without it, they would be unable to return to their home country.
As the security concerns for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle persist, the couple faces challenges in ensuring the safety of their family while navigating their new roles outside of the royal family.
