Harry and Meghan’s Security Concerns Keep Them at a Distance from Royal Family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s absence from King Charles’ birthday parade last month once again brought attention to the growing divide between the couple and the rest of the royal family.
During the Trooping the Colour event in London, King Charles, along with Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine, were present. However, Harry chose to remain in California with Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
While strained family relationships played a part in their absence, the main reason was the ongoing security concerns that the couple faces. According to insiders, Harry is unwilling to risk the safety of Meghan and their children by bringing them to the UK without proper protection.
A source close to the couple revealed, “Harry can’t risk bringing Meghan and the children over without proper protection. It’s not a matter of ego – it’s about safety. These threats aren’t vague. They’re specific, and they’re terrifying.”
In a blow to Harry’s security arrangements, he lost his High Court appeal in May against the decision to remove his police protection while visiting the UK. This ruling means that despite his status as a senior royal by birth, he will no longer be entitled to armed security provided by the Metropolitan Police.
