On Tuesday, March 31, material was submitted to the High Court in London as part of the defense by Associated Newspapers Limited in the civil lawsuit filed by Prince Harry. Associated Newspapers Limited is the owner of both the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday.
In 2011, Prince Harry and Griffiths became Facebook friends, with Harry even sharing his private phone number with her. They attended a party in June of that year while still mingling within the same social circle, which resulted in them exchanging texts the following morning.
On December 4, 2011, the prince contacted the former diary editor of the MOS via Facebook, writing, “It’s H, in case you were confused by name and picture!!! X.”
Griffiths, who was the deputy editor of the paper at that time, replied, “Hello, Mr Mischief… Did you get home OK slash did you actually find your car and did you beat Arthur down the motorway more importantly?!”
She added in a lighthearted manner, “What a fun weekend of naughtiness – can’t we all get up to no good in the countryside every weekend, damn it?? Smooches, CG String. Xxx”
