Adelaide, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s newborn daughter, has been announced as 15th in line to the British throne. She follows her two older brothers in the line of succession, leading to Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, moving one position lower.
The birth of Adelaide coincides with ongoing controversy surrounding Eugenie’s father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66. In 2025, he was stripped of his prince title and HRH style.
Princess Eugenie has carved out her own public identity, working as a director at the contemporary art gallery Hauser and Wirth. She also co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective alongside Julia de Boinville.
On August 4, Buckingham Palace officially announced the birth of Adelaide. The Palace confirmed that Charles, 77, Queen Camilla, 79, and other relatives had been informed of her arrival.
The Palace’s statement read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6:20 pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.”
Amidst this joyous occasion, Eugenie’s father, Andrew, remains embroiled in legal troubles. Earlier this year, he was released “under investigation” after being arrested on allegations of misconduct in public office. He is accused of sharing sensitive information with his friend Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as a trade envoy for Britain, accusations which he denies.
