The trial of Ramsey Khalid Ismael, also known as “Johnny Somali,” in South Korea has taken a serious turn, with prosecutors recommending a three-year prison sentence and sex offender registration for the controversial internet personality. The update on Johnny Somali’s legal situation was shared by YouTuber and lawyer Andrew “Legal Mindset” on February 27, 2026.

According to Legal Mindset, things did not go well for Johnny Somali during his trial in South Korea. Prosecutors refused to drop the deepfake distribution charges against him and disregarded his unofficial settlement with a Korean streamer named Yongman. The court was offended by Johnny Somali’s attempt to blame Korean culture for his actions, stating that such behavior is unacceptable in the United States.

Furthermore, prosecutors recommended a three-year prison term with manual labor and official sex offender registration for Ramsey. Despite Ramsey’s “not apology” apology, where he focused on his ignorance of the consequences and tried to claim innocence because the victim was not charged, the Judge and Prosecutor were not swayed. The sentencing date was set for April 15, 2026, extending the painful waiting process for Johnny Somali.

In response to a question from a user on X, Legal Mindset confirmed that the April 15 sentencing date is for all eight charges against Johnny Somali, including the deepfake allegations. As of now, Johnny Somali has not issued a statement regarding his legal case in South Korea.

The seriousness of the charges and the potential consequences highlight the gravity of Johnny Somali’s legal troubles in South Korea. It remains to be seen how the court will ultimately decide his fate on April 15, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
