Puerto Rico Governor Offers Support to Trump in Response to Maduro’s Invasion Threat

Puerto Rico’s governor reached out to President-elect Donald Trump to express her readiness to collaborate on addressing Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro’s recent threat to invade the US territory.

In a letter to the incoming president, Republican Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón emphasized the urgency of responding to Maduro’s saber-rattling and highlighted the need to counter the dictator’s attempts to expand his influence in the region.

“Maduro’s public proposal to invade Puerto Rico is a direct threat to the United States, our national security, and regional stability,” stated González-Colón in her communication with the president-elect.

Maduro’s provocative statement was made during a speech in Caracas, where he hinted at using Brazilian troops to carry out the invasion.

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart condemned Maduro’s threat as “absurd and pathetic,” commending Governor González-Colón for her swift response to the dictator’s remarks.

González-Colón reaffirmed Puerto Rico’s commitment to its American citizenship and rejected any attempts to push for independence, which she believes Maduro is aiming for through his invasion rhetoric.

The governor expressed her willingness to collaborate with the Trump administration in countering Maduro’s threats and supporting the people of Venezuela in their fight for freedom.

The Trump transition team has yet to comment on the matter.
