Queen Camilla is grieving the loss of her longtime companion, her beloved dog Beth. Buckingham Palace confirmed the sad news on Monday, sharing that the rescue pup, a Jack Russell Terrier, had passed away. The official Royal Family Twitter account also paid tribute to Beth, highlighting the joy she brought to Queen Camilla’s life.

Queen Camilla adopted Beth from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2011, and later expanded her fur family in 2012 by adopting Bluebell, another Jack Russell Terrier, with her husband King Charles III. Despite her royal duties, Queen Camilla has always been an advocate for animal causes, particularly shining a light on Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in a 2022 episode of ITV’s “For the Love of Dogs.”

Over the years, Queen Camilla has made several appearances at the organization and has a strong connection with the animals there. Claire Horton, the home’s former chief executive, shared in the 2018 biography “The Duchess: The Untold Story” that Beth was exactly what the Duchess was looking for.

Despite her royal status, Queen Camilla went through the same adoption process as anyone else, including a home-visit check to formally adopt Beth. The Queen insisted on no special treatment, showing her humility and love for animals. Beth quickly became a beloved member of the royal household, bringing happiness and companionship to Queen Camilla.

The loss of Beth has undoubtedly left a void in Queen Camilla’s heart, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Rest in peace, Beth.
