During a recent Zoom chat, Julien Dossena shed light on the inspiration behind his latest collection, where glamour and grunge converge. Drawing from vintage icons like Ossie Clark, Kurt Cobain, and Françoise Hardy, Dossena has managed to modernize these influences while staying true to the signature style of the Paco Rabanne brand.
The collection, set to debut in November as Rabanne’s Celebration line, features a mix of slinky draped chainmail dresses, tortoiseshell-toned paillette midi dresses, and flowing maxi silhouettes. Dossena explained that these pieces are meant to embody the festive spirit of the holiday season.
Against a backdrop inspired by Paco Rabanne’s futuristic Parisian home, the Celebration collection exudes a sense of opulence and glamour. In contrast, the Rabanne resort line captures a more casual, everyday vibe, with looks that could easily transition from day to night.
For Rabanne by day, Dossena has crafted a range of chic ensembles, including a brown A-line crocodile-embossed leather skirt paired with a mint-colored shrunken knit featuring a chunky metal chain detail. Other standout pieces include a caramel leather outfit reminiscent of French patisserie and the faux fur coats that have become a staple in Dossena’s designs.
With his ability to seamlessly blend retro influences with contemporary aesthetics, Julien Dossena continues to redefine the boundaries of fashion at Paco Rabanne.
