The 79th Tony Awards, scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, will see a new team of executive producers at the helm. Tony Award Productions has announced that Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman will be leading the charge for Broadway’s biggest night.

Raj Kapoor, an Emmy-winning veteran in live events, will be joining the Tony Awards for the first time. Alongside him, Sarah Levine Hall, also an Emmy winner, and Jack Sussman, a seasoned CBS executive and live-events producer, bring a wealth of experience in both the Tony Awards and broadcast industry. Kapoor and Levine Hall will be taking on the roles of co-showrunners for the event.

Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing, and Jason Laks, president of the Broadway League, expressed their confidence in the new team, stating, “The 79th Annual Tony Awards are in exceptional hands. With this team’s unmatched expertise in live events and bold creative vision, they will elevate the broadcast to new heights, building on last year’s record-breaking telecast while delivering a show that’s fresh, modern, and fully reflective of Broadway’s ever-evolving spirit.”

In a joint statement, Kapoor, Hall, and Sussman shared their excitement about taking on the role of Executive Producers for the 79th Tony Awards, emphasizing their deep-rooted love for theater and the magic of live performances. They are committed to showcasing the creativity, innovation, and heart that define Broadway on a global stage.

Raj Kapoor’s impressive resume includes working on nine recent Academy Awards telecasts and 12 Grammy Awards, with Emmy wins for producing “The 96th Oscars” and “Adele: One Night Only.” Currently, he is involved in the production of the upcoming 98th Oscars and the most recent 68th Grammys. Sarah Levine Hall has contributed to 19 previous Tony Awards and received an Emmy in 2024 for her work on the Oscars. Jack Sussman, who previously held the position of executive vice president of specials, music, and live events at CBS Entertainment, has overseen the network’s Grammy Awards and Tony Awards broadcasts for over two decades.

With this new team of executive producers leading the way, the 79th Tony Awards promise to be a spectacular celebration of Broadway’s finest talent and creativity. Stay tuned for more updates as the event approaches.
