Convicted Rapist in Custody for Beating Unconscious Mom on Randall’s Island
A convicted rapist is now in custody for the brutal attack on a mom on Randall’s Island, where he called 911 to report the incident himself, as per police sources.
According to police sources, the suspect was out on parole for rape and was wearing his ankle monitor during the vicious assault. He had been residing at a shelter on Randall’s Island when he allegedly attacked the 44-year-old mom, now identified as Diana Agudelo, as she was walking along the bike path at 600 E. 125th St. around 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
The suspect, after beating Agudelo, reported the incident to 911 and then fled the scene, according to sources.
Agudelo sustained severe injuries, including facial fractures, a cracked skull, and a broken nose, prompting NYPD Chief Joseph Kenny to describe it as one of the most severe beatings he has ever witnessed.
She was immediately rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.

The suspect had previously been convicted of rape and was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2013 in the Bronx, based on jail records.
