The Chrisley family is gearing up for a return to television screens, despite their parents Todd and Julie Chrisley currently being in federal prison for bank fraud and tax evasion. Lifetime has officially greenlit a docuseries about the famous reality TV family, set for release in 2025. This new series will follow the Chrisley children as they navigate life without their parents, with only phone calls and brief visits to keep them connected.

The synopsis of the series reveals that Savannah Chrisley is taking on the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings, Chloe and Grayson, while also fighting for a Presidential pardon for her parents. Meanwhile, Chase Chrisley is dealing with his own personal struggles as he builds his new business and navigates his relationship with girlfriend Jodi. The show promises to showcase the challenges and triumphs of the Chrisley family as they work to carry on the family name and legacy.

The untitled docuseries is being produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, known for producing popular shows like “The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson” and “Surviving R. Kelly.” Executive producers include Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam, Jesse Daniels, Rit Saraswat, Savannah Chrisley, and Chase Chrisley. Lifetime’s Brie Miranda Bryant and Nicole Vogel are also on board as executive producers for the series.

In other TV news, Apple TV+ has released a first look at Season 2 of “Platonic,” starring and executive produced by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. The new season will premiere on August 6, with new episodes airing weekly through October 1. The show, co-created and directed by Nick Stoller and Francesa Delbanco, follows the mid-life hurdles faced by Will and Sylvia as they navigate work, weddings, and personal crises.

The show is produced by Seven24 Films and Lark Productions, with series creator Susin Nielsen serving as showrunner and executive producer.

On the streaming front, “Washington Black,” a limited series starring and executive produced by Sterling K. Brown, will premiere on Hulu on July 23. The series follows the adventures of George Washington “Wash” Black, a young boy born on a sugar plantation in the 19th century. The show promises a globe-spanning adventure that challenges Wash’s understanding of family, freedom, and love.

Lastly, Disney and Formula 1 have announced a new collaboration that will see Mickey Mouse and friends joining the world of Formula 1 in 2026. This partnership will bring new experiences, content, and merchandise to fans around the globe, combining the magic of Disney with the excitement of Formula 1 racing. RSA Entertainment has recently signed “Roads of Fire” director Nathaniel Lezra for representation in writing and directing. This exciting news comes just before the New York premiere of the film at the 2025 Brooklyn Film Festival. “Roads of Fire” has already garnered attention and accolades, winning best documentary at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The film follows Darién Gap, an asylum seeker navigating life in New York amidst a global migration crisis.

Lezra expressed his thoughts on the film, stating, “This film is as much about the cost of immigration policy as it is about the resilience of the people impacted by it.” He also highlighted the significance of having the New York premiere at the Brooklyn Film Festival, known for championing bold and socially conscious storytelling.

In other news, CoPro.TV, the first international TV conference located in Tel Aviv, is set to take place on Thursday, May 29. The event will bring together 200 Israeli executives, producers, and creators in the television industry. Organized by the CoPro Foundation, the conference aims to expand Israeli scripted content globally.

Pnina Halfon-Lang, the executive director of CoPro, emphasized the importance of the event in light of current challenges faced by the industry. She stated, “Especially during these times, when the global industry is facing production cutbacks and the local market is grappling with challenges due to the ongoing war, the need for professional dialogue and a meaningful event that highlights the strength of Israeli content is more important than ever.”

The conference will feature three panels throughout the day, focusing on topics such as international co-productions, innovative financing models, developing global content, and using comedy as a tool for social change. Industry representatives from Fox Studios, ZDF Studios, and France Télévision will participate in roundtable discussions, providing valuable insights and perspectives on the evolving landscape of television production.

With exciting developments in both the film and television industries, it’s clear that creativity and innovation continue to thrive. As Lezra joins RSA Entertainment and CoPro.TV prepares to host its inaugural conference, the future looks bright for entertainment and storytelling. Both events promise to push boundaries, bring entertainment and excitement to audiences, and pave the way for new and impactful narratives to unfold.
