John Stamos Reflects on Past Alcohol Abuse and Failed Marriage with Rebecca Romijn

John Stamos, known for his roles in shows like ER and Full House, opened up about his struggles with alcohol abuse following his divorce from actress Rebecca Romijn. In 2015, Stamos was arrested for a DUI, which served as a wake-up call for him to seek help and enter into a recovery program. Since then, he has maintained his sobriety.

During his journey to sobriety, Stamos worked through the steps in Alcoholics Anonymous, which led him to realize his own faults in the breakdown of his marriage to Romijn. He recalled a pivotal moment during the fourth step of the program where he had to confront his grievances and acknowledge his role in the relationship’s demise.

“I laid out all my grievances, blaming her for everything. But then my sponsor asked me, ‘What part did you play in that?’ And I had to admit that I wasn’t blameless,” Stamos shared. This realization helped him see that he was equally responsible for the challenges in his marriage.

Despite the pain of his divorce from Romijn, Stamos found love again and married actress Caitlin McHugh in February 2018. The couple now has a seven-year-old son named Billy, and Stamos has found happiness in his new family.

Stamos’s journey serves as a reminder of the importance of self-reflection and taking responsibility for one’s actions. By facing his past mistakes and working towards personal growth, Stamos has been able to move forward in his life and find peace and happiness in his new marriage.
