Nubia has recently unveiled its latest gaming tablet, the Redmagic Tablet 3 Pro, which will be known as the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet in Western markets. This new device boasts several features that could potentially position it as a competitor to the Nintendo Switch 2.
One of the most significant upgrades in the Redmagic Astra is the display. It now sports a 9.06-inch OLED screen with a 2.4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, a noticeable improvement from its predecessor, the Nubia Redmagic Nova, which had a 10.9-inch 144Hz LCD screen. Additionally, the maximum brightness level has been doubled from 550 nits to 1,100 nits, making it a standout feature, especially considering the criticism faced by the Nintendo Switch 2 for not incorporating an OLED display.
In terms of pricing and availability, the Redmagic Astra is set to retail for $499/€499 in Western markets, with an Early Bird discount starting at $469/€469. Customers who take advantage of this offer will also receive a free 80W charger. The device will be available for purchase from July 16 on the official Redmagic store.
Moving on to the specifications of the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, offering a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor. The device also features the RedCore R3 Pro chip, allowing for upscaling and running games at 2K resolution with 120Hz refresh rates. To ensure optimal performance during extended gaming sessions, the tablet is equipped with an ICE-X Cooling system, which includes vapor chamber cooling, liquid metal thermal compounds, and a dedicated fan.
Furthermore, the Redmagic Astra comes with varying configurations of LPDDR5T RAM (12GB, 16GB, or 24GB) and UFS 4.1 Pro storage options (256GB, 512GB, or 1TB). The tablet houses a large 8,200mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
Design-wise, the Redmagic Astra stays true to Nubia’s signature Redmagic style, featuring a solid aluminum body and a semi-transparent flat back. Notably, the device comes with RGB lighting and a preloaded PC emulator that can run triple-A titles smoothly. Pairing the tablet with the Redmagic Shadow Blade Gamepad 3 offers a compelling portable gaming setup.
Overall, the Redmagic Tablet 3 Pro, now available in China and soon to be released in Western markets as the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet, presents a compelling option for gamers looking for a powerful and versatile gaming device. Stay tuned for more updates on pricing and availability in Western regions.
