Nubia recently unveiled its latest gaming tablet, the Redmagic Tablet 3 Pro, which will be known as the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet in the West. This new device boasts several features that could potentially rival the Nintendo Switch 2.

One of the most significant changes from its predecessor, the Nubia Redmagic Nova, is the smaller yet improved display. The Redmagic Tablet 3 Pro now sports a 9.06-inch OLED display with a 2.4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, a step up from the 10.9-inch 144Hz LCD on the Redmagic Nova. The brightness level has also been doubled from 550 nits to 1,100 nits, making it a compelling choice for gamers.

The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, offering a performance upgrade from the Redmagic Nova. While it may not feature the overclocked Leading Version seen in the Redmagic 10S Pro, it still utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Additionally, the RedCore R3 Pro chip allows for upscaling games to 2K resolution with 120Hz refresh rates.

To keep the device cool during intense gaming sessions, Nubia has incorporated an ICE-X Cooling system with vapor chamber cooling, liquid metal thermal compounds, and a dedicated fan. The tablet comes with options for 12GB, 16GB, or 24GB of LPDDR5T RAM, as well as 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. A robust 8,200mAh battery powers the device, and it supports 80W fast charging.

In terms of design, the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet features Nubia’s signature Redmagic style with a solid aluminum body and a semi-transparent flat back. The device also includes RGB lighting for added flair. Notably, the tablet comes preloaded with a PC emulator that can run AAA titles like Tomb Raider at full frame rates. Paired with the Redmagic Shadow Blade Gamepad 3, gamers can enjoy a complete portable gaming setup.

The Redmagic Tablet 3 Pro is currently available in China and will be released as the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet in the West starting July 1. Keep an eye out for more information on pricing and availability in Western markets. Overall, the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet presents an intriguing option for gamers looking for a high-performance gaming tablet with Switch-like capabilities.
