Reisenbach Philanthropies: A Legacy of Giving Back to New Yorkers

For over three decades, Reisenbach Philanthropies has been dedicated to enhancing safety and the quality of life for the people of New York City. This nonprofit organization will be hosting its annual fundraiser on November 19 at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. In recent years, Reisenbach has transitioned from simply providing grants to becoming an incubator for emerging nonprofits, offering resources, expertise, and mentorship to a variety of organizations focused on education, anti-hunger initiatives, digital literacy, and emergency services such as ambulance patrols in Central Park.

Naomi Ryan, the president of Reisenbach Philanthropies, has been leading the charge since 2015. Under her guidance, the organization has developed deeper relationships with nonprofit entrepreneurs and advocacy groups. Some of the initiatives currently being supported by Reisenbach include Technology for Families in Need (TechFin), Central Park Medical Unit, Brooklyn Community Kitchen, and Safety Saints.

The annual Reisenbach Philanthropies Benefit has evolved into a platform to showcase the work of these incubated nonprofits and honor individuals making a difference in the community. This year’s event will recognize George Cheeks, head of CBS and TV Media for Paramount Skydance, and Nigel Frankson, co-founder and chair of TechFin.

The foundation’s origins date back to 1990, following the tragic murder of John Reisenbach, a young TV advertising executive. The John Reisenbach Foundation was established to honor his memory and support causes that would benefit the city he loved. Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment and John’s sister, has been instrumental in carrying forward the foundation’s mission, driven by a desire to create a positive legacy in the face of unspeakable loss.

As Reisenbach Philanthropies celebrates its 35th anniversary, the organization continues to grow and expand its reach. While New York City remains its primary focus, Reisenbach is also looking to support organizations in Los Angeles, particularly those involved in recovery efforts following the devastating fires in Altadena and Pacific Palisades earlier this year. The foundation remains committed to empowering communities and addressing their specific needs.

The upcoming fundraiser will serve as a reunion for the extended Reisenbach family, paying tribute to the legacy of giving back that has endured for over three decades. With a strong foundation built on compassion and dedication, Reisenbach Philanthropies is poised to make an even greater impact in the years to come.
