Representative Shri Thanedar has taken to the digital stage to announce a bold move: he has introduced a resolution aimed at impeaching Donald Trump, which comprises seven distinct articles.
In his announcement, Thanedar stated:
“Donald Trump has already inflicted significant harm on our democratic institutions. The tipping point has arrived with his blatant disregard for a unanimous 9-0 ruling from the Supreme Court, which indicated that Kilmar Garcia, wrongfully deported, must be allowed to return and receive due process.”
“Trump has flouted the Constitution and the fundamental checks and balances that uphold our democracy. This is not a one-time incident; it is indicative of a troubling, intentional trend. Hence, I have introduced a resolution to impeach Donald J. Trump, outlining seven clear articles of impeachment.”
“Article one addresses obstruction of justice and abuse of executive power, particularly his denial of due process through unlawful deportations and defiance of court orders. Article two highlights his overreach in fiscal matters, as he has dismantled agencies and frozen funds without congressional approval. Article three pertains to the abuse of trade powers and international aggression, where he has imposed damaging tariffs and threatened military actions against our allies.”
“Article four speaks to violations of First Amendment rights, as he has retaliated against journalists and critics exercising their freedom of speech. Article five concerns the establishment of an unauthorized office—the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—which unconstitutionally empowers Elon Musk over governmental processes and personal data.”
“Article six addresses bribery and corruption, where he has dismissed legal cases and solicited payments from foreign governments while coercing legal settlements for personal and political advantage. Lastly, article seven deals with tyrannical overreach, where he attempts to consolidate unchecked power, undermining the constitutional boundaries of the presidency.”
“We have presidents, not monarchs. This goes beyond mere misconduct; it constitutes impeachable offenses. This is not leadership but rather a form of tyranny. If we allow this to continue, we are essentially saying that the president is above the law and that the Constitution is merely a suggestion. I refuse to remain silent and urge all my colleagues—Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike—to join me.”
“Enough is enough. Donald J. Trump must be impeached.”

The pressing question remains: does this impeachment initiative stand any chance of gaining traction?
