More than $128 million of federal taxpayer money has been allocated to fund gender ideology initiatives under the Biden administration, with at least 341 grants identified by the American Principles Project. In their report titled “Funding Insanity: Federal Spending on Gender Ideology under Biden-Harris,” the APP sheds light on how the federal government is utilizing significant amounts of public funds for what they refer to as the Gender Industrial Complex.

The U.S. Health and Human Services Department led in funding with nearly $84 million distributed through 60 grants, while the Department of State awarded the highest number of grants, totaling over $14 million. Other agencies involved in awarding grants include the U.S. Agency for International Development, National Endowment for the Humanities, Department of Justice, and many more.

In addition to grants, 63 federal agency contracts amounting to more than $46 million were identified by the APP. Notable grants include funding for LGBTQI+ initiatives in Uganda, global equality alliances, humanitarian assistance inclusive of gender identities, and empowerment programs in various countries.

One noteworthy grant that was identified and subsequently cancelled was a $600,000 allocation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to Southern University for a study on menstruation and menopause, including in biological men. This sparked controversy and raised questions about the allocation of federal funding for such research.

It is crucial to understand that all federal funding is approved by Congress through continuing resolutions to fund the government and agency budgets. The distribution of funds for various initiatives reflects the priorities and policies of the current administration.

The analysis by the American Principles Project sheds light on the allocation of taxpayer money for gender ideology initiatives, prompting discussions on the utilization of public funds and the impact of such initiatives on society.
