Republicans Target Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie Over Iran War Stance

In a politically charged primary battle, Republicans are making a concerted effort to unseat Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie, leveraging his dissent against military action in Iran as a focal point of their campaign strategy.

On Thursday, the Republican Jewish Coalition Victory Fund launched a striking advertisement endorsing Ed Gallrein, the candidate backed by former President Donald Trump, which zeroes in on Massie’s anti-war position. The ad’s narrator declares, “America is at war with a fanatical regime that seeks nuclear weapons. American hero Ed Gallrein stands with President Trump, our country, and our military.”

In a pointed jab, the narrator continues, “Thomas Massie, he stands with Iran and radical leftists in Congress,” further accusing him of opposing Trump on critical issues such as immigration and taxation.

This advertisement marks a notable attempt to frame a candidate’s stance on the Iran conflict as a pivotal issue, a strategy that carries inherent risks—especially given recent polling data indicating that the public is not particularly favorable toward military engagements with Iran.

Massie, who is set to face Gallrein in a primary election this coming May, has become a prime target for Trump and his allies due to several perceived transgressions, most prominently his collaboration with Democratic Representative Ro Khanna from California to advocate for the release of the Epstein files.

While Massie has yet to respond to requests for comment, it’s worth noting that the ad campaign from the RJC Victory Fund was unveiled shortly after the House rejected a proposal led by Massie and Khanna aimed at compelling the President to cease military operations against Iran.

Despite this setback, Massie contended that the outcome was a victory in itself, asserting, “we put everyone on record” regarding a military operation that could extend for months.

Massie’s vocal opposition to the strikes against Iran includes accusations that Trump has strayed from his “America First” principles, and he has challenged fellow Republicans to curtail the President’s ability to engage in military action without Congressional approval.

As the RJC Victory Fund pours millions into efforts to undermine him, Massie has positioned his campaign as a referendum on whether the “Global Military Industrial Complex and Israel’s government controls the United States.” In response, he has begun fundraising off his anti-war stance.
