The Real Housewives of Atlanta personality Kelli Ferrell finds herself ensnared in a legal quagmire, as a former employee has levied accusations against her, claiming financial misconduct, as exclusively revealed by Us Weekly.
On August 27, Saniyah Casey initiated legal proceedings against Ferrell, aged 40, alongside her establishment, Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. Casey alleges breach of contract, theft of wages, and emotional distress stemming from her experience in the restaurant industry.
According to the lawsuit, Casey began her tenure at Nana’s on July 8 and continued until August 15, only to receive one payment throughout this span. Citing over $2,000 in unpaid wages and back pay, she has portrayed her experience as a classic case of employer negligence.
Casey contends that Ferrell neglected to deliver the “agreed-upon amount for services rendered,” despite her continual requests for payment—each made through various channels including verbal communication, text messages, and emails.
The suit amounts to a demand for $5,000 to compensate for the alleged emotional distress.
In a poignant statement, Casey expressed, “The emotional toll this has taken on my mental health has been significant. The fear of financial instability due to my employer’s negligence weighs heavily.”
She elaborated, “The uncertainty surrounding my wages, compounded by the frustration of dedicating myself to work only to be met with refusal of payment, has left me feeling undervalued and stressed. It’s a profound betrayal that has adversely affected my mental health.”
Casey’s demand goes beyond emotional distress, seeking a total of $18,788.52, covering missed wages, back pay, and unspecified damages, along with legal expenses. She has even hinted at the possibility of pursuing criminal charges against Ferrell for knowingly withholding payments and for failing to manage tax obligations associated with her earnings.
A spokesperson for Ferrell asserts that the claims stem from a “routine administrative error”—an occupational hazard of starting a new business, they argue—which led to a two-week payment delay. According to them, Casey rebuffed a certified check offered to resolve the situation, instead choosing to escalate matters to a civil lawsuit, which they assert grossly exaggerates the damages cited.
The spokesperson further remarked, “If this ordeal truly brought the extent of emotional distress that Ms. Casey claims, it begs the question: why wasn’t she willing to accept the offered payment when it was extended? It appears that Ms. Casey might be utilizing the heightened visibility surrounding Ms. Ferrell’s involvement in a high-profile project to garner attention.”
“We fully acknowledge the scrutiny that comes with the reality television realm. However, we genuinely wish Ms. Casey the best in her endeavors, both professionally and personally, and are dedicated to resolving this issue smoothly,” ended Ferrell’s representative.
In what seems to be a synchronized dance of turmoil, Us previously reported that Ferrell had called the authorities regarding her neighbor, named Perri, over an alleged altercation.

Shortly thereafter, a woman identified as Monualda Perri Cash filed for a temporary protective order against Ferrell, citing escalated tensions after claiming Ferrell needed to be “physically restrained and removed” from her residence on August 9.
Ferrell’s representation has dismissed these allegations. They state, “In light of Kelli’s emergence as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Ms. Cash has exhibited worrisome behavior directed towards Kelli and her loved ones. To respect everyone involved, we wish to refrain from commenting any further at this juncture. We urge the public to honor Kelli’s privacy and avoid disseminating misleading information.”
