The Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby has seemingly poked fun at her co-star Wendy Osefo in light of her recent felony fraud charges.
While performing at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C. on Friday, October 10, Darby, 37, remarked, “We’re creating melodies, not committing felonies, if you catch my drift.”
According to reports from Page Six, she followed up with, “Just putting it out there. If there’s any confusion, that’s what we’re up to here. Just melodies. This isn’t breaking news to us—just to you.”
Referring to Osefo’s nickname on the show, she quipped, “Zen Wen is now in the pen.”
Recently, Wendy and her spouse Eddie Osefo faced charges related to insurance fraud, conspiracy, and providing false statements to the police, as per court documents obtained by Us Weekly. The indictment occurred on October 9.
The couple was detained in Westminster, Maryland, and subsequently released the next day after each posted a $50,000 bond, as confirmed by a representative from the Carroll County Detention Center.
A representative for the Osefos shared with Us, “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are home safely with their family and are in good spirits. They appreciate the support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, together with their legal team, are looking forward to their court date. We ask for privacy as they concentrate on their family and the upcoming legal proceedings.”
This arrest followed an investigation linked to a reported burglary at their residence a year earlier, where they claimed several designer items were stolen after returning from Jamaica in April 2024.
Following the alleged burglary, both Wendy and Eddie communicated with two insurance companies about the supposed stolen items, claiming damages of $2,500 for home damages and stating $450,000 worth of property was missing.
Just after the reported incident, Eddie included Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band in the insurance claim, which led to the couple receiving a $25,380 settlement from Travelers Insurance.
In a separate claim submitted to Jewelers Mutual Insurance, the anniversary band was left out, and the Travelers Insurance settlement was also not disclosed.
Later, authorities discovered photographs of Wendy wearing the claimed stolen band, and during a search warrant execution at their residence, they found over 15 items that were purportedly stolen still in their possession. Investigative records disclose that the couple was “burdened by substantial debt.”
Prior to their arrest, Wendy expressed pride in her husband during the season 10 premiere of RHOP, heralding the success of his expanding cannabis enterprise, Happy Eddie.
“Happy Eddie is thriving, especially now that it’s established in three states,” she enthusiastically noted. “Happy Eddie is—well—financially successful. Cha-ching!”
With a beaming smile, Eddie discussed the business’s growth with their children, Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6.
“Aren’t you proud of me? I started with one state, and now it’s branching out across several states,” he expressed. “This exemplifies how, as an entrepreneur, dedication leads to expansion.”
