Beta Film, one of Europe’s leading independent production companies, has announced its impressive lineup for this year’s Mipcom event. The standout show on their slate is the 10-part epic series “Rise of the Raven,” which promises to be one of the most ambitious European TV productions to date. Produced by the acclaimed Robert Lantos, the series tells the real-life story of Hungarian army commander Janos Hunyadi and his heroic victory over the Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Belgrade in 1456. The series adds a modern twist by exploring the personal struggles of the characters amidst the backdrop of historical events.
Another highlight is the new show “Last to Brake,” based on the true story of Finnish motorcycle racing legend Jarno Saarinen. The series captures the thrill and danger of motorcycle racing in the early ’70s as Saarinen takes on the reigning world champion Giacomo Agostini. Produced by Funfar and co-produced by Fireframe and YLE, the series is set to captivate audiences with its high-octane drama.
In addition to these two flagship shows, Beta Film is also bringing two Eagle Eye Drama productions to Mipcom. “Patience,” a crime drama starring Laura Fraser and Ella Maisy Purvis, follows Detective Bea Metcalf and young police archivist Patience Evans as they solve crimes in the historic city of York. Meanwhile, “Bookish,” created by Mark Gatiss, takes viewers to 1946 London where a bookshop owner helps the police crack mysterious cases.
One of the most anticipated shows at Mipcom is the Greek daily series “The Beach,” which has become a phenomenon in Greece with its 288 episodes. Set in a hippie commune on the island of Crete during the summer of free love, the series has captured the hearts of viewers and become a cultural institution in the country.
Other highlights from Beta Film include “A Better Man,” a drama about an internet troll’s journey to redemption, and the fourth season of the popular series “Sisi.” “Helsinki Syndrome,” a Nordic Noir thriller series, and the Italian YA hit “Prisma” have also been renewed for new seasons, promising more exciting content for viewers.
With a diverse range of genres and top-notch productions, Beta Film is set to make a splash at Mipcom and showcase the best of European television to a global audience. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements from this dynamic production company.
