According to Chicago police, the 49-year-old courier was stationed outside the Chase Bank at 4363 South Archer Avenue when an unidentified man approached him, brandished a firearm, and fired multiple shots just before 10 a.m. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds, one in each thigh, and was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the incident.
The assailant managed to flee the scene in a silver vehicle, heading southbound on Troy Street and then eastbound on 44th Street, evading capture. Paul Rutherford, the executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, expressed grave concern over the brazen and violent nature of the attack, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in identifying the perpetrator. He urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing the culprit to justice.
