Chicago police have issued a second community alert in River North, warning residents of a robbery pattern targeting late-night bar patrons. The alert states that multiple men are approaching intoxicated individuals near bars and restaurants, engaging them in friendly conversation before attacking and robbing them.

The recent alert highlights four reported robberies in the area:

– 400 block of North Wabash on Monday, June 16, around 1:00 a.m.
– 600 block of North Dearborn on Sunday, June 22, around 3:00 a.m.
– 600 block of North Wabash on Monday, June 28, around midnight.
– 400 block of North State on Sunday, July 6, around 2:00 a.m.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the suspects are described as one to three Black males between 20 and 40 years old. This warning comes after a previous alert issued last month, where two individuals were violently robbed near West Kinzie Street. In those incidents, three men assaulted lone victims, using physical force to steal their belongings. One victim even reported that the offenders claimed to be police officers during the initial approach.

The suspects in the June robberies were described as Black males in their 20s with dreadlocks, ranging from 5’10” to 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 175 to 185 pounds.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant, especially during late-night hours when nightlife venues are closing. It is crucial to be cautious when approached by strangers and to avoid sharing personal information or being lured into isolated areas. If anyone suspects suspicious activity or feels unsafe, they are encouraged to contact the authorities immediately.

CWBChicago, a local public safety reporting platform, was created in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown. Their coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. The platform aims to provide original reporting on public safety issues with greater context and detail than mainstream media outlets.

For more information and updates on safety alerts in the Chicago area, residents can visit the CWBChicago website or contact them via email at news@cwbchicago.com. Stay informed and stay safe.
