Robert De Niro Considering Panic Room Installation Amid Safety Concerns
After facing threats and concerns for his safety due to his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, actor Robert De Niro is reportedly considering installing a panic room in his home.
A source close to the 81-year-old actor revealed, “He has resisted such measures before as he doesn’t like to seem like a paranoid celebrity, but the reality is he is a kidnapping, torture, and assassination target now thanks to his repeated attacks on Trump. Some of the MAGA-backing elements are extremely dangerous, and he knows it.”
De Niro, who once had a real estate dispute with his ex-wife Grace Hightower in 2001, is now reportedly determined to take steps to ensure his safety and that of his family.
According to reports, a growing number of New York elites are opting to have panic rooms installed in their homes, with features such as electrified door knobs and walls that shoot pepper spray. The cost of such installations can range from $50,000 to $1 million.
Notable celebrities like Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, and Joan Rivers have also invested in panic rooms for added security in their homes.
Referred to as “safe spaces” by salespeople, these panic rooms have seen a surge in demand due to America’s fractured political climate and recent events such as the George Floyd murder, which sparked nationwide protests.
While De Niro may have initially been hesitant to install a panic room, the current circumstances have led him to prioritize his safety and that of his loved ones.
As the actor takes steps to protect himself in the face of potential threats, it serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by public figures in today’s volatile and polarized climate.
