Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Opens Up About Lack of Communication with Caroline Kennedy Following Niece’s Death
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently shared that he has not had recent contact with his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, in the aftermath of the passing of her daughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, who lost her battle with cancer late last year.
Speaking to reporters at the Starry Starry Night Gala in Palm Desert, California on January 31, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, 72, addressed the issue, revealing that he and Caroline, 68, have not been in touch since the tragic loss of Tatiana.
The gala, which aimed to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research, saw RFK Jr. and his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, being honored with an award during the event held at the Chaparral Country Club.
Tatiana Schlossberg, a prominent environmental journalist and granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy, publicly disclosed her terminal cancer diagnosis in November through an essay published in The New Yorker. She passed away a month later from acute myeloid leukemia, as confirmed by a statement released by the JFK Library Foundation on behalf of her extended family on December 30.
The Kennedy family came together in New York City on January 5 to pay their respects to Tatiana at a funeral service held at the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola on the Upper East Side. Immediate family members, including her parents, siblings, husband, and their children, attended the service, while RFK Jr. was notably absent as he was occupied with announcing changes to vaccine mandates for children on the same day.
Before her passing, Tatiana had expressed criticism towards her cousin, publicly denouncing his views on vaccines and his role in leading the Department of Health and Human Services. Caroline Kennedy also voiced her disapproval of RFK Jr., labeling him a “predator” and questioning his qualifications to oversee national health policy.
Caroline’s rare public rebuke of her cousin highlighted the ongoing family rift, with tensions escalating over differing beliefs and public stances. Despite the lack of recent communication between RFK Jr. and Caroline, the Kennedy family continues to mourn the loss of Tatiana and support one another through this difficult time.
