NBC is making moves to reboot the classic series “The Rockford Files,” and they have just announced that Michaela McManus will be joining the cast alongside David Boreanaz. The pilot for the reboot will be directed by Greg Mottola, known for his work on “Confess, Fletch” and “Peacemaker.”
The show will follow the story of James Rockford, a private investigator who is newly paroled after being wrongfully convicted. As he navigates his way back into the world of solving cases in Los Angeles, he finds himself caught between the local police and organized crime.
McManus will be playing the role of Kate, an East Hollywood detective who has a complicated romantic history with Rockford. This isn’t the first time McManus and Boreanaz have played love interests, as they previously portrayed a married couple on the popular series “SEAL Team.”
Fans of McManus will be excited to see her return to NBC, where she previously starred in “Law & Order: SVU” as ADA Kim Greylek. Her impressive resume also includes roles in “One Tree Hill,” “The Orville,” and “You.” Currently, she can be seen in the Fox drama “Memory of a Killer” alongside Patrick Dempsey.
The “Rockford Files” pilot is being led by writer and executive producer Mike Daniels, with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman serving as executive producers. Boreanaz will not only star in the series but will also take on a producer role. Mottola will executive produce the pilot in addition to directing it, with Universal Television producing the show.
It’s clear that the reboot of “The Rockford Files” has gathered a talented team both in front of and behind the camera. With McManus and Boreanaz leading the way, fans can expect an exciting and engaging revival of this classic series. Stay tuned for more updates as production on the pilot progresses.
