Leading footwear distributor Chapters Brand Group has exciting news for shoe enthusiasts in the U.K. and Ireland. The company has secured a deal with brand management firm Authentic Brands Group to bring the iconic Rockport shoe brand to the region.
Under this new agreement, Chapters will be distributing a range of Rockport men’s and women’s footwear, showcasing the brand’s strong heritage, global recognition, and loyal following. Authentic Brands Group President, Henry Stupp, expressed his confidence in Chapters’ ability to establish Rockport’s presence and drive long-term growth in these important markets.
Graeme Nichol, Managing Director at Chapters, highlighted the demand for footwear that combines functionality with thoughtful design, citing Rockport’s Umbwe as an iconic classic that delivers on both fronts. He emphasized that Chapters has remained true to the brand’s original specifications, utilizing high-quality materials such as Vibram soles, Hydroshield membranes, full moccasin construction, and buttery calf leathers to prioritize comfort and quality.
The journey to bring Rockport to the U.K. and Ireland follows the brand’s recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in June 2023, marking its second filing within a five-year period. Founded in 1971 by Saul and Bruce Katz, Rockport was later acquired by Reebok in 1986 before being sold in 2015. Authentic Brands Group stepped in to acquire the brand in July 2023, following a bankruptcy court-approved sale. The brand’s offerings predominantly cater to the men’s footwear market.
Authentic Brands Group has been actively working on revitalizing Rockport, appointing Marc Fisher Footwear as its U.S. partner to oversee the brand’s footwear design, wholesale, and e-commerce operations. With a strong portfolio that includes Nine West, Hunter Boots, and Bandolino, Marc Fisher Footwear is well-equipped to support Rockport’s resurgence in the market.
