Nong-O Hama, a legendary Muay Thai fighter from Thailand, is gearing up for another shot at a world title this weekend in Japan. His teammate, Johan Ghazali, has confirmed that Nong-O is fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
The former bantamweight Muay Thai champion will be competing for the vacant flyweight title at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo. His opponent will be Rodtang Jitmuangnon, another former world champion and Thai superstar.
In a video shared by ONE Championship on Instagram, Ghazali, who trains with Nong-O at Superbon Training Camp in Bangkok, praised the intense training regimen that his teammate has undergone in preparation for the title fight. Ghazali expressed his admiration for Nong-O’s dedication and physical condition, stating that he has never seen him in better shape.
At 39 years old, Nong-O made the decision to move to the flyweight division earlier this year after dominating the bantamweight category, where he held the ONE world title from 2019 to 2023. He believes that the 135-pound division is more suitable for him at this stage of his career.
On the other hand, Rodtang is looking to reclaim the flyweight title that he was stripped of last year for missing weight in a title defense. The upcoming clash between Nong-O and Rodtang is expected to be a highly anticipated and competitive fight.
Nong-O himself acknowledges the significance of this match, considering it to be one of the biggest fights of his career. In an interview with ONE Championship, he expressed his excitement about facing Rodtang in Japan for the title, emphasizing the magnitude of the event.
The Rodtang-Nong-O flyweight Muay Thai title bout is part of a lineup of five championship fights at ONE 173, which marks the second live event of ONE Championship in Japan this year. Tickets for the event are available through ePlus in Japan, and the event will also be streamed live on pay-per-view at Live.ONEFC.com.
