Rolf Ekroth’s Encore: A Second Chance to Shine
Rolf Ekroth’s fall 2025 show left many in the fashion industry wondering what was next for the Finnish designer. Now, with his latest collection entitled Encore, Ekroth has returned to the spotlight with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
In a nod to the uncertainties facing designers today, Ekroth describes his previous show as a “last lap of some kind.” This season, set in a woodland setting on the outskirts of Copenhagen, he aimed to give himself a second chance to correct past mistakes and build on his successes.
Outerwear has always been a strong category for Ekroth, and this season was no exception. The collection featured utilitarian bomber jackets, track tops with plenty of pockets, and blazers in mixed fabrics. Prints, a key signature for the brand, took center stage with motifs ranging from tulips to polka dots.
While the collection showcased some familiar elements, Ekroth made it clear that he was not simply relying on past successes. The designer emphasized the importance of pushing boundaries and finding inspiration in new ideas. Standout pieces included a top made of a thousand pins arranged in a flame motif and padded T-shirts with tie-up sleeves, perfect for Scandinavian summers.
For spring 2026, Ekroth collaborated with stylist Emma Saarnio to bring together a diverse range of concepts, including upcycled looks created from discarded textiles. The result was a cohesive collection that seamlessly blended old favorites with fresh innovations.
Ekroth expressed confidence in the direction of his latest collection, stating, “I just focused on what I liked the most and hopefully pushed those forward.” The enthusiastic response from the audience at his encore show confirmed that Ekroth had indeed succeeded in capturing their attention and admiration once again.
