‘Rooster’ Starring Steve Carrell to Debut on HBO in March

HBO is gearing up to premiere the new original comedy series “Rooster” in March 2026. The show, which consists of 10 episodes, stars the talented Steve Carell, who not only acts in the series but also serves as an executive producer alongside creators Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. Viewers can catch the premiere on HBO as well as stream it on HBO Max.

“Rooster” is set on a college campus and follows the story of a middle-aged author, played by Carell, as he navigates a complex relationship with his daughter, portrayed by Charly Clive. The show also features a stellar cast including Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley, and Lauren Tsai. The executive producing team is rounded out by Jeff Ingold, Jonathan Krisel, Barbie Adler, Annie Mebane, David Stassen, Anthony King, and Liza Katzer.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television, where both Tarses and Lawrence have overall deals, “Rooster” promises to deliver a blend of humor and heart in a college campus setting.

In other TV news, NBC has released the official trailer for the upcoming second season of “The Hunting Party,” set to return to the network on January 8, 2026. The series follows a team of investigators led by former FBI profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, played by Melissa Roxburgh, as they track down dangerous killers who have escaped from a government prison known as “The Pit.”

The show boasts a talented ensemble cast including Nick Weschler, Patrick Sabongui, Josh McKenzie, and Sara Garcia, with guest appearances from Eric McCormack, Kelsey Grammer, and more. Created by JJ Bailey, “The Hunting Party” is co-showrun by Jake Coburn and executive produced by Thor Freudenthal.

Switching gears, Wonder Project is set to debut a new family drama series titled “It’s Not Like That” on Prime Video. Starring Scott Foley, the show follows a widowed pastor and a recently divorced woman as they navigate single parenthood and the complexities of modern-day life. The series, created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, promises to offer a heartfelt and relatable story.
