Roseanne Barr Opens Up About Racist Tweet Scandal

After facing backlash for her racist tweet targeting former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, Roseanne Barr is now shedding light on the events that led to her controversial post. In a recent interview, Barr revealed that she had Ambien and alcohol in her system when she posted the tweet, and she believes that it was a result of being jolted awake by “God.”

According to Barr, she was already dealing with nightmares about never returning to her show when she was awakened by a divine message. She explained, “I had my laptop in bed, as always, and when I opened it, I saw a picture of Valerie Jarrett next to Helena Bonham Carter in full makeup as Ari in ‘Planet of the Apes.’ They looked like Xerox copies of each other, so I captioned it.”

During this time, Barr was in the midst of conversations with journalists in Iran who were discussing the impact of the Iran deal on women’s rights. She expressed her frustration and anger over the situation, which ultimately led to her tweet.

Despite the controversy and consequences that followed, Barr stands by her actions, stating, “The way I feel about it is that God told me to do what I did, and it was a nuclear bomb. The day of my tweet, over 2 million Americans Googled Valerie Jarrett and the Iran deal. And that was my intent. So, whatever.”

While Barr’s explanation may not excuse her actions, it provides insight into the mindset and circumstances that contributed to the offensive tweet. As she continues to navigate the aftermath of the scandal, it remains to be seen how she will move forward and address the impact of her words.
