Ray Romano Joins “Running Point” Season 2
Ray Romano is set to join the cast of “Running Point” Season 2 in a recurring role, confirmed by Variety. Romano will portray coach Norm Stinson in the Netflix comedy series, taking over the role from Robert Townsend. The creative team made the decision to recast the role and reshoots are currently underway.
Stinson is described as a basketball savant who has become a social recluse. He will team up with Isla (played by Kate Hudson) to rediscover his love for the game and for life.
This will be Romano’s second role in a Netflix comedy series, following his appearance in “No Good Deed” which premiered in 2024. Romano is known for his role in the iconic sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond” and has also appeared in films like “The Irishman” and “The Big Sick.”
He is represented by LBI Entertainment, The Conversation Company, and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka.
“Running Point” debuted on Netflix in February and was quickly renewed for a second season after spending five weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV chart.
The show’s official Season 1 logline reads: “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, a prestigious basketball franchise and family business. Isla must prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the sports community that she is the right choice for the job.”
Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen are writers and executive producers on the show, with Stassen also serving as showrunner. Kate Hudson executive produces and stars in the series. “Running Point” is produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Deadline was the first to report Romano’s casting in the series.
