The trial of Russell Brand, facing charges of rape and sexual assault, has been postponed to October. Initially, the comedian and actor was scheduled to be tried at Southwark Crown Court in London starting June 16.
As reported by Sky News, the trial will now commence on October 12, encompassing all seven charges filed against Brand over the past year. The proceedings are anticipated to extend up to two months.
In April 2025, Brand was charged with rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault involving four different women, concerning incidents that allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2005. Later, in December 2025, he faced two additional charges – one for rape and another for sexual assault – linked to incidents in 2009 involving two more women.
Brand has denied all accusations, pleading not guilty. He is currently out on bail as the legal proceedings continue. Following the initial charges in April 2025, he addressed the allegations on social media, stating: “When I was young and single, before I had my wife and family, I was a fool, was a fool before I lived in the light of the lord, I was a drug addict, sex addict and an imbecile. But what I never was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.”
The charges emerged following an investigation in 2023 by The Sunday Times and Channel 4, during which five women accused Brand of “rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse” in the early 2010s.
