Sally Field Opens Up About Traumatic Past Encounters
In a recent interview, actress Sally Field revealed details about a traumatic encounter she had during a final audition for a role at a director’s home. Field shared that the director invited her up to his bedroom where he requested to see her breasts for a nude scene in the film, and then said the job was hers. However, he added that he needed to see how she kissed before finalizing the deal.
Field reluctantly submitted to the kiss and later, during filming, the director showed up at her hotel room. Despite his wife being in the suite above, Field allowed him in and engaged in a sexual encounter with him. Reflecting on the experience, she expressed, “As far as I was concerned, it was how men behaved, because that’s all I ever saw.”
Aside from this distressing incident, Field also opened up about the stomach-churning abuse she endured for years at the hands of her stepfather. Following her mother’s divorce from her father and subsequent marriage to Hollywood stuntman Jock Mahoney, Field became a victim of molestation.
Field recounted how Mahoney would ask her to walk on his back in a flimsy nightgown, with his hands sliding over her legs and moving up. She described how she would try to avoid his advances by carefully walking on his body, all the while feeling disconnected from reality. These disturbing encounters affected her ability to concentrate, leading to a fog-like state of mind.
Despite the trauma she endured, Field found solace in acting and performing on stage. She revealed that these moments of focus were a welcome escape from the challenges she faced in her personal life. The actress’s candid revelations shed light on the long-lasting impact of abuse and trauma, highlighting the importance of speaking out and seeking support.
Field’s bravery in sharing her story serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength required to overcome past traumas. Her journey towards healing and self-discovery is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of breaking the silence surrounding abuse and misconduct.
