Sally Kirkland, the beloved actress known for her talent and charm, has sadly passed away at the age of 84. Her representative, Michael Greene, confirmed the news, stating that she took her last breath at 1:50 a.m. PST. Kirkland will be deeply missed by fans and colleagues alike.

In the days leading up to her passing, Kirkland had entered hospice care after suffering a fall in the shower that resulted in serious injuries. Last year, a GoFundMe was set up in her name to help cover medical expenses. The fundraiser provided updates on her condition, with the most recent one stating that she was on hospice and resting comfortably.

The GoFundMe was initially created after Kirkland fractured bones in her neck, wrist, and hip, and developed life-threatening infections. Financial struggles compounded her health issues, as she had received poor advice from a financial advisor and faced insurance problems due to SAG-AFTRA canceling supplemental coverage for older members.

Despite these challenges, Kirkland’s friends remained hopeful for her recovery and set a goal to support her through the difficult times. The GoFundMe had raised over $60,000 before her passing, a testament to the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends.

Born in New York City to parents deeply entrenched in the fashion and metal industries, Kirkland’s career spanned over 200 credits in film and television. She gained recognition for her talent early on, earning praise from Andy Warhol and making history as the first actress to appear nude in an off-Broadway play.

Throughout her career, Kirkland’s dedication to her craft shone through, culminating in a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the film “Anna” in 1987. Her versatility as an actress allowed her to take on a range of roles, from comedic to dramatic, in popular titles like “Bruce Almighty” and “Charlie’s Angels.”

Beyond acting, Kirkland was also known for her spiritual pursuits, serving as an ordained minister and practicing yoga. She mentored aspiring actors, including industry legends like Barbra Streisand and Liza Minnelli, leaving a lasting impact on the entertainment world.

In her passing, Kirkland is survived by her godson, three cousins, and a host of close friends who will cherish her memory and legacy. Sally Kirkland’s contributions to the arts will be remembered fondly, as she leaves behind a rich tapestry of work that has touched the hearts of many.
