The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to receive a significant upgrade in one crucial area – its battery capacity. According to reports from GalaxyClub, the next iteration of Samsung’s compact foldable phone will boast a larger 4300mAh battery, a 7.5% increase from its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This marks a clear progression, especially considering that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 only had a 3700mAh battery.

Despite this improvement, some are skeptical that the increase in battery size will be sufficient. In a review of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, concerns were raised about the device’s underwhelming battery life, with users often struggling to make it through a full day on a single charge. The competition is also heating up, with rivals like the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 rumored to feature a massive 5100mAh battery, dwarfing the potential capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

One factor that has given Xiaomi an edge in battery technology is the incorporation of silicon-carbon (Si-C) batteries, allowing for increased capacity without a significant increase in device size. Samsung, on the other hand, seems to be lagging behind in adopting this technology. It is speculated that Samsung may introduce Si-C batteries in its future products, potentially in the Galaxy S25 Edge, but foldable phone enthusiasts may have to wait until the second half of 2026 for competitive battery performance from Samsung.

Despite the concerns about battery capacity, there is still hope for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The combination of a slightly larger battery and the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite chip expected to power the device could lead to a meaningful improvement in battery life. It remains to be seen how Samsung will address these challenges and whether they can compete with the advancements made by their rivals. Stay tuned for updates on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and how it fares in the ever-evolving world of foldable phones.
