Controversy Erupts Over Calls for Violence Against ICE Agents
A candidate for the San Antonio City Council has stirred significant backlash after publicly advocating for the assassination of ICE agents during a recent social media post on Monday evening. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has already initiated efforts to track him down.
In a dramatic turn of events, federal agents launched a large-scale immigration operation at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles—a city that prides itself on being a sanctuary for immigrants. This operation unfolded amid heightened tensions, particularly in an area reportedly influenced by the MS-13 gang.

In a tense exchange, Mayor Bass sought to communicate with the operation’s leadership, only to be met with a firm rebuke from the Border Patrol Chief, who dismissed her requests.

Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino did not mince words, stating, “I don’t work for Karen Bass. Better get used to us now because this will be the new normal. We will go anywhere, anytime we want in Los Angeles,” in a statement to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin.
Meanwhile, in a shocking display of incitement, a Twitter account purportedly belonging to Matthew Gauna, a San Antonio City Council candidate and UTSA student, called for violence against ICE agents in response to the ongoing raids. His incendiary post read:
And they will get shot by the Los Angeles public.
I wanna see a few dead ICE agents Los Angeles! Don’t let me down. https://t.co/pYXq7NNvXO— Matt (@gauna_matty_5th) July 8, 2025
In light of this alarming statement, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin responded with a terse warning: “We’ll see you soon…”
