Sandra Weil Shines at Mexico Fashion Week with LEVEL8 Collection
Sandra Weil stood out on the opening day of Mexico Fashion Week, showcasing her latest collection titled LEVEL8. The Peruvian designer is part of a new chapter in Mexican fashion as the platform undergoes a period of renewal with a new sponsor.
LEVEL8 draws inspiration from the energy of infinity, reflecting Weil’s personal journey of confronting and overcoming fear. The collection features garments with a medieval edge and mythological motifs, deepening the brand’s own mythology with prints of dragons, mermaids, and other creatures.
The show opened with a striking look featuring a pleated tulle maxi skirt paired with a wool and organza jacket, showcasing Weil’s signature silhouette that is feminine yet devoid of sweetness and delicacy.
Throughout the show, Weil displayed her talent for mixing fabrics and prints, incorporating stylized metallic mesh into the designs. A standout piece was a golden metal corset, symbolizing the perfect armor for facing fears and going into battle.
Continuing with her exploration of fluidity and movement, Weil incorporated folds and drapes into jackets and baggy trousers, often focusing on asymmetrical details. She emphasized the evolution of her tailoring, driven by a commitment to couture and craftsmanship.
The accessories for the collection were designed by Romo Herrera, known for sculptural jewelry pieces. Mexican actress Aislinn Derbez wore a remarkable dragon-scale-inspired necklace on the runway. Additionally, some looks featured UGG boots as part of a special collaboration.
“Once you conquer your fears, you tap into an infinite energy—where there’s no good or bad. Everything flows. That’s the message: once you move past fear, everything comes and goes naturally,” Weil shared.
