Sanfic Industria, one of the most important industry events in South America, has recently introduced two new sections aimed at promoting diversity in Latin American filmmaking and TV production, as well as expanding its international reach.
The first new section is the Queer Incubator: Latin America, a development program focused on queer narratives and filmmakers from across the region. This initiative will select and showcase six projects, providing guidance from industry experts in the creation of dissident, queer, or non-normative film and TV stories.
In collaboration with Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival, the Chile Industry Academy will offer a program focused on international distribution, programming, and marketing. Unlike traditional production-focused programs, this academy will provide valuable insights from experienced professionals in the field, helping participants enhance their skills and industry knowledge.
With the introduction of these new sections, Sanfic Industria has also opened applications for various other strands, including the 14th Ibero-American Works in Progress, the 13th Ibero-American Santiago Lab for fiction and documentary projects, and the 6th Sanfic-Morbido Lab for genre development. These initiatives aim to bring attention to innovative and compelling works from talented filmmakers across the region.
Additionally, the 2025 edition will feature the 6th Series Lab Fiction/Documentary, the 3rd edition of Sanfic ODS Lab, and the Female Producers Lab. These programs are designed to support and empower industry professionals, contributing to the growth and diversity of the audiovisual sector in Latin America.
Gabriela Sandoval, director of Sanfic Industry and founder of Sanfic, emphasized the importance of promoting diversity and inclusivity in the audiovisual industry. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to providing training, development opportunities, and strategic partnerships for Ibero-American filmmakers, with the goal of creating a more representative and inclusive industry.
Overall, Sanfic Industria continues to be a vital platform for fostering talent, supporting innovative projects, and facilitating international collaboration in the Latin American audiovisual sector. The addition of new sections and programs reflects the organization’s dedication to promoting diversity, creativity, and excellence in filmmaking and TV production.
