After Sarah Burton’s spring collection debut for Givenchy, numerous celebrity attendees graced the runway and front row—among them Kaia Gerber, Cynthia Erivo, Eddie and Hannah Redmayne, Jenna Ortega, Charlize Theron, Inez & Vinoodh, Jodie Comer, and Raye—who gathered promptly for an exclusive cocktail event and dinner hosted by the House at Marius et Janette, a chic seafood venue adjacent to Givenchy’s iconic headquarters on Avenue George V.
Cynthia Erivo, clad in Givenchy from head to toe, expressed her enthusiasm for the show—highlighting its eclectic music, inclusive casting, and stunning garments. “What I adored about the show was how beautifully she transformed exquisite fabrics into everyday attire,” she remarked, specifically praising the embroidered mint-green robe coat that concluded the collection. “It was exceptional. It didn’t feel overly precious, yet Sarah’s craftsmanship is always top-tier.” She also noted her deepening friendship with Burton since wearing one of her designs to the Met Gala. “I pride myself on being my own shopper—selecting my own pieces—but I’ve always admired her work. During my very first fitting, she was right there, meticulously taking measurements, which really touched me. Her kindness is incredible; her dedication is real.” In her upcoming book releasing in November, Erivo elaborates on her fashion insights: “It’s not a guide; it’s a ‘what I experienced.’ Discover pieces that narrate your story and wear what elevates your spirit, as you’ll find that others will appreciate it too.”
As Burton navigated through a sea of admirers into the dining area, her mind was already set on the future. “It’s an exhilarating time because I feel this season is a genuine homage to creativity, with sensational new designers making waves in Paris,” she stated. “For me, my passion lies in collaborating with the women we dress, as well as the dream of adorning countless women. It’s all about witnessing their joy while wearing our designs—the emotions shared in the space. They desire to feel extraordinary, and it’s my duty to facilitate that.”
“I was definitely in a mode of mental shopping,” Raye chuckled. “For me, it was that sculpted dress with the bow on one arm—it screamed that stage presence! Absolutely! But primarily, I was filled with pride for Sarah. My love for fashion and self-expression has always been there, yet I felt somewhat daunted by the fashion industry. Meeting Sarah dissipated all anxiety. She’s a phenomenal creator and genuinely relatable. I’m in awe of her work.” The 27-year-old also shared that her experiences in Paris inspired several tracks for her forthcoming album set to release next year. “I wrote those on the Eurostar. Traveling ignites incredible creativity. One day, I’d love to have a cozy apartment here—the Paris dream resides in my heart.”
“Having collaborated with Lee, Sarah, and Thom Browne, I believe there are only a select few who truly grasp the intricacies of creation in this domain,” remarked Trino Verkade, CEO of the Sarabande Foundation, the charitable organization founded by the late Alexander McQueen. “We must cherish those individuals who possess the talent to craft within the fashion world. Sarah is undoubtedly one of them. Her true gift goes beyond being an incredible designer—she genuinely understands the essence of being a woman.”
