Sarah Michelle Gellar is gearing up to take on the role of Buffy once again, but this time alongside the new slayer, Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The duo recently shared a video on social media showcasing their intense training sessions at the gym in preparation for their vampire-slaying roles. Gellar captioned the post, “Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle.”
In the video, Gellar can be seen engaging in various exercises such as squats on a half exercise ball and TRX pulls, with Armstrong right by her side. Armstrong, who was cast in a lead role in the pilot opposite Gellar, is no stranger to the screen, with credits in popular series like “Anne with an E,” “American Horror Story,” and the upcoming FX series “The Lowdown.”
The reboot of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” will see Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman writing, showrunning, and executive producing the show. Chloé Zhao is set to direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. Gellar will also serve as an executive producer alongside Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton. The original executive producers of the series, Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton, are all on board for the reboot.
Joining Gellar and Armstrong in the cast are talented actors like Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott. The original “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series, which debuted in 1997 on The WB, starred an ensemble cast including Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, and James Marsters. Boreanaz went on to lead the spinoff series “Angel” for five seasons after his time on “Buffy.”
With a new generation of slayers ready to take on the supernatural threats, fans of the original series and newcomers alike can look forward to the exciting adventures that await in the world of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
