Ardie Savea Reigns Supreme Once Again

It was a night of triumph for Ardie Savea at the prestigious New Zealand Rugby Awards.

The exceptional 32-year-old loose forward, who achieved the milestone of 100 test caps this year, clinched an impressive trio of accolades. Savea was honored with the prestigious supreme award, the Kelvin R Tremain Memorial player of the year award, a title he previously claimed in 2019 and 2023.

Joining the ranks of the legendary Richie McCaw, Savea is now a three-time winner of this esteemed award.

Savea’s exceptional contributions did not go unnoticed as he was also named All Blacks player of the year. His remarkable leadership for Moana Pasifika earned him the title of Super Rugby Pacific player of the year.

New Zealand Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson commended Savea’s unmatched consistency and inspirational leadership, stating, “He keeps raising the bar for what’s possible on an individual level and brings his inspirational leadership to every environment. He is massively respected both domestically and internationally.”

The Strath Taieri club had its moment of glory as well, with Jodi Taylor being recognized as the volunteer of the year for her tireless efforts.

While Otago finalists narrowly missed out on some awards, the night belonged to the deserving winners who showcased excellence in their respective fields.

The awards ceremony also honored exceptional individuals such as Black Ferns winger Braxton Sorensen-McGee, Black Ferns Sevens coach Cory Sweeney, and many others who have made significant contributions to New Zealand rugby.

It was a night of celebration and recognition for the outstanding talent and dedication present in the world of rugby in New Zealand.
