A dramatic incident unfolded in the West Village as an amateur photographer found himself on the receiving end of a violent attack by a stylish woman in heels and a leather jacket. The altercation occurred on Varick Street near West Houston Street on May 5, when the photographer inadvertently captured an image of the woman while taking photos for social media.
The woman, described as a sunglasses and dress-wearing brunette, became irate upon realizing she had been photographed. In a fit of rage reminiscent of a paparazzi encounter, she punched the photographer in the shoulder before brandishing a pair of scissors and stabbing him in the back.
After the assault, the woman made a swift exit, walking south on Varick Street and disappearing into the Houston Street subway station. Despite sustaining minor injuries, the victim declined medical attention at the scene.
Surveillance photos and video of the suspect were released by the NYPD, showing her in a black dress, leather jacket, and heels. Although she was initially seen wearing sunglasses, she had removed them before vanishing underground.
